The Stars Elite 12U Girls team was a new addition to the program this year.  The team has shown great promise for the growth and development of girls hockey in Texas.  In January the team traveled to San Jose, CA for the 14th Annual – MLK Girls Tournament.  The 12U girls battled their way to a tie in the first game against the San Diego Jr.  Gulls.  Game 2 was a hard fought loss, 3-1 against the Anaheim Lady Ducks, the eventual winner of the tournament.  Game 3 was a 3 to 1 win over the LA Lady Lions. The Semi-final game was a repeat of the first game against San Diego and was once again a tie at the end of regulation.  The shootout went a total of 8 rounds before San Diego narrowly secured victory, 1 to 0.  The Elite Girls finished 3rd and narrowly missed a chance at the championship game.
In February, the girls hit the road once again to play in the Can-Am Challenge Cup in Madison, WI. The team dominated early rounds of play beating the Vipers 6-0, Sabres 6-3, and the Admirals 6-0.  The only loss for the girls was game # 4 against the Omaha Lady Lancers 5-2.  At the end of the round robin games there was a 3 way tie for first with all three teams posting records of 3-1.  The tournament tie-breaker was goals against and the girls missed the championship game by one goal.   The girls would finish strong on Sunday defeating the DC Diamonds 4-2 and winning the bronze medal at the Challenge Cup.
