The official host and site for the 2010-11 Rocky Mountain Regional Tier 1 Tournament were announced this weekend by USA Hockey and the Texas Amateur Hockey Association. We are pleased to announce that the Dallas Stars Elite Hockey Club was selected to host the U12, U14, U16 and U18 Tier 1 divisions in March 3-6, 2011 at the Dr Pepper StarCenter - Farmers Branch Texas.
In typical Dallas Stars Elite fashion, the winning proposal to host the tournament was a team accomplishment. The Stars Elite Board of Directors would like to thank the Dallas Stars, the Dr Pepper StarCenters, the Farmers Branch Convention & Visitors Bureau, and the Texas Amateur Hockey Association (TAHA) for their efforts and support during the process to prepare and submit the winning proposal.
The Tier I division will be comprised of eight U18, eight U16, six U14, and four U12 teams, which will compete to determine a Regional Champion in each division. A total of 26 Tier 1 teams, from those states that comprise the Rocky Mountain District (Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, Utah and Idaho) will participate in the tournament.
With the Tournament only 7 months away, there is plenty to do right away, as the event will require a significant amount of volunteer effort and planning. More information will be posted in the future, regarding the opportunities to be involved in the hosting of this prestigious event.
