Player Development

Player development is a key focus of competitive youth hockey players and their families. But how does the aspiring young hockey player get the experience necessary to compete at the highest level? The answer lies in following a development pathway that allows for play with and against increasingly strong competition as a player’s personal skills improve.

The Dallas Stars through the Dr. Pepper Star Centers, have done a terrific job of introducing the world’s greatest game to athletes across the Metroplex many of who started in the StarCenters’ recreational or “house” leagues. Regardless of how a player joins the game, the next step up for a house hockey player is “Tier II” hockey. Finally, players with the talent, drive, and will to compete at youth hockey’s highest level will be selected to compete on the highest level organization/team in their area.

At the Dallas Stars Elite Hockey Club (DSEHC), our goal is to help guide aspiring players through the process of becoming accomplished hockey players. DSEHC is comprised of nine (9) teams from Squirt through Midget Major, which compete at the highest level of North American youth ice hockey.

As professionals accomplished in developing the best in youth hockey players, we recognize that the strength of our player corp depends heavily on the development opportunities afforded young players at the house and Tier II levels. Although DFW is fortunate to have a number of Tier II organizations, DSEHC sought to align ourselves with the best. For this reason, we work closely with the Dallas Junior Hockey Association (DJHA) which is the premier Tier II organization in DFW. Through the vision of DJHA and the founding core of the DSEHC, we believe we have assembled the best of all worlds for the development of competitive youth hockey players from our area seeking to achieve the loftiest of goals.  Our collaboration with DJHA provides the developmental pathway for DFW hockey players from Mite Development forward. Our coaching staffs are second to none, and our coaches share the common goal of providing the best possible environment for the development of their respective teams and players.

Our vision for player development is illustrated in the development pyramid, which defines the pathway from “Learn to Skate” all the way to college hockey.
